Pre and Post Electronic Fieldtrip Quiz

OBJECTIVES
The student will

  • Document pre-field trip level of knowledge regarding trumpeter swans.
  • Document post-field trip level of knowledge regarding trumpeter swans.

PROCEDURE
The teacher will

  • Administer the trumpeter swan quiz (Attachment A) to the students prior to the electronic fieldtrip.
  • Collect quizzes and correct them using answer key (Attachment B), but do not return them.
  • Instruct students to explore the electronic field trip.
  • Instruct students to post questions to park experts on sections of the field trip that they did not understand, or other questions they may have regarding trumpeter swans.
  • Instruct students to read the responses to their questions from park experts.
  • Administer the trumpeter swan quiz (Attachment A) to students again after they have completed the electronic field trip.
  • Instruct students to correct the quizzes using the answer key (Attachment B).
  • Return pre-trip tests to owners so that they can compare.
  • Make an assessment on the learning experience by examining the pre and post trip quizzes.

EXTENSION

  • Share the results of quizzes and any comments from students with Yellowstone National Park. The Formal Education Office would appreciate your input. Write to "National Park Service, Formal Education Office, P.O. Box 168, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming 82190.
  • Instruct students to prepare additional questions/responses to add to the quizzes.
