The number of litters a bear produces during her lifetime depends on how long she lives, her health and the survival of her litters (how soon she is able to breed again). The grizzly has one of the lowest reproductive rates of terrestrial mamals. A female grizzly must be approximately five years old to breed and grizzly cubs generally stay with their mother a minimum of 2 years.
